Working non-profit.

Providing services to communities that are mostly unable to meet their own basic needs creates budgetary constraints and requires us to work efficiently within the resources received from donor organisations, as well as the time and effort contributed by volunteers.

The organisation is governed by its members at the annual AGM, while oversight of management and operations is provided by its Board of Trustees, which includes permanent representatives from MOWCS Western Cape.

As only our Seniors Club programme currently receives Government support, ongoing donations from individuals and organisations are crucial to sustaining all our other activities. If you are able to contribute, please join us in our efforts!

Meals on Wheels Plumstead is a registered Public Benefit / Non-Profit Organisation (PBO 930039298, NPO 002/739), affiliated with Meals on Wheels Community Services Western Cape and Meals on Wheels Community Services South Africa.

From the understanding that God has given us humans the task to work in love and social responsibility, our work is guided by a deep sense of compassion, service, and respect for divine direction as well as human dignity. Faith, for us, is expressed through action — by showing up, caring consistently, and treating every person with kindness and integrity.

We believe in meeting people where they are, offering support without judgment, and serving with humility. This foundation shapes how we work with our clients, volunteers, and partners, and reminds us that care, generosity, and love are universal values that do not require a specific religious denomination.

Behind every meal is a team of caring hands and generous hearts. From planning and preparation to delivery and support, we work together to nourish our community with dignity, kindness, and compassion.

Alan Paulsen, Manager

Alan joined Meals on Wheels Plumstead in 2019 as a driver and soon went on to coordinate the process of meal allocation and deliveries. Since 2024 (acting) and 2025 (appointed), he has served as branch manager, responsible for all operations, including financial and administrative processes.

Judith Martin, Secretary

Judith started in 2016 as a volunteer, driving and assisting in the kitchen. She soon took on administrative tasks as well. Since 2018, Judith has been permanently employed as the secretary for Meals on Wheels Plumstead. She also coordinates the Seniors Club and runs the monthly market.
